We are pleased to be offering you today a Large and very beautiful Royal Copenhagen Stoneware Bust of a women by Johannes Hedegaard . The Bust has been decorated using a combination of non glazed face and a colorful glazes to the removable head scarf. This particular model is of the large size and with the removable head scarf is one of the rarer models that were made.The full model name is 3139-250 Aluminia Margrethe and it stands 43 cm high and a most imposing and beautiful piece with the combination of brightly coloured glazed scarf and the subtle non glazed face.It is fully marked with the faxsimilary signature for Johannes Hedegaard along with the model number 250 3139 and Beehive mark with waves which was used between 1903 to 1969 .Johannes Hedegaard born 1915-1999. He trained at the Royal Copenhagen Factory from 1930-1935 and at the same time was taught at the Academy of fine art in Copenhagen.He worked for Royal Copenhagen from 1948-1966 and is known for his relief and ceramic works for both Royal Copenhagen and his own studio.His Busts of women are certainly signature pieces and are a important piece of Mid Century Art. His work is highly regarded and exhibited at the Lunds Museum,Sweden.
