Fine Chinese Armorial Bowl.Decorated with underglaze blue diaper borders and famille rose enamels with the Coat of Arms of ROBERTS quarterly with FENTON in pretence. (See Howard P 717). This service was made for John Roberts of Bonington, Hertfordshire, UK. He was a Director of the East India Company, 1764/1808 and Chairman in 1776 and 1802. This service was made C1785. Dia. 10 1/4", (26.0cm). Across corners, 11 3/8", (29.0cm). Condition; small flakes to blue enamel on armorial, slight friting to inner edge of corners. No cracks, chips or restoration.
