Description & Notes
This large eight-sided jardiniere is both rich and gorgeous: a thick celadon glazed ground is decorated with a resplendent parade of flowers, all done in the Chinese floral painting tradition, and enameled with the greatest care. Though unmarked, this jardiniere bears resemblance to imperial marked jardinieres of the Guangxu era, and was made either for the imperial household, or a domestic client of great affluence and power. The potting is very sturdy, and the paste fine. This piece weighs almost 15 pounds.
