Provenance: From a Florida estate
Description: A rare strand of antique c. 1900s Baltic amber bead necklace made for the Chinese market, from the same Florida estate as the other Chinese-market egg yolk amber necklace we are offering in auction. These beads are so old they show the desirable "spider web" like surface crazing prized by collectors. Unlike necklaces made for the western markets with their graduated olive-shaped beads, this necklace has lovely round amber beads of the same even size (about 14 mm in diameter). It's possible that these beads came from what was originally a court necklace, as this type of translucent cognac colored amber beads were often used for the court.
I guarantee this necklace to be antique baltic amber, untreated and natural. These beads float in salt water, emit fluorescence under UV lighting, and is impervious to acetone.
Condition: Due to age, the bead's surface show fine crazing. Some of the beads show tiny fleabite chips. Overall in great antique condition. [Please examine all photos carefully, as they are part of the condition report.]
