Antique Natural Baltic Amber Necklace
c. 1900 - 1940s

From a Portland, Oregon estate
A substantial and gorgeous strand of antique natural baltic amber beads, weighing an impressive 121 grams. The beads are of a transluscent dark brown 'cognac' coloring, and are quite large, graduating from 20 mm to 16 mm. The amber shows the typical signs of age: the color has darkened over time due to exposure to light and air, and the surface has a web of very fine crackles. The necklace also passes the UV light, acetone, and salt water tests. The clasp is an old Chinese export silver filigree clasp.
Condition: Due to age, the surface of the amber has some very fine crackles. The areas near the thread holes are worn, with some beads having very tiny fleabite nibbles at the hole edges. Overall this necklace is in excellent antique condition.
