Burmese wooden box for manuscipt with gilded relief decoration including floral scrolling and flower heads. All designs are created from "thayo," a Burmese technique done with a mixture of boiled lacquer and ash that closely resembles wood carving. Inside of the top cover is inscribed in Burmese language and with illustrations of deity figures from Hindu-Buddhist mythology.
