The two chief disciples of the Buddha are Moggallana and Sariputta. They are always depicted beside the Buddha. Moggallana is known for his supernatural powers. Sariputta is famous for his profound wisdom. Moggallana, sitting with both hands in adoration posture, appears on the left side of the Buddha while Sariputta, sitting with his hands placed on his legs, is on the the Lord's right side.

The figure of Sariputta is shown here, decorated with red lacquer and gold leaves, his robe partially inlaid with small colorful glass pieces.

Age: Burmese, Mandalay period, 19th century.
Measurement: Width 34.5 C.M. / Height 56.5 C.M.
Condition: Good condition, with natural aged hair-line cracks and some missing glass pieces, (some expected degradation due to age). Please refer to the enlargement photos for more details.
