Large impressive antique Japanese Kyo-Satsuma-yaki vase. Various flowers and butterflies surround the vase between an accordian style border which is repeated on the collar of the vase. All set on a blue ground and outlined in gilt. The inside and the base glazed clear to reveal a light crackle. On the base in black ink is the mark of Kikozan Sobei VII (1868-1927).
There are two types of Satsuma ware, one made in Kagoshima and the other in Kyoto, known as Kyo-Satsuma-yaki.
Age: Meiji Period
Size: Approximately 46.35 cm tall, 71 cm around at the widest and a upper rim diameter of 17.14 cm
Condition: Very good condition, no breaks or noticeable cracks
