A large Chinese tapering two-handled 'palace' vase, Hu in 18th century imperial style, decorated principally around the body on the yellow ground with groups of pomegranate and clusters of bats supporting fylfots, below a wide band of lotus and scrolling foliage, underglaze blue waves in a band at the rim, lappets at the foot, the handles as blue elephant heads, the base with an apocryphal seal mark of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795) on a turquoise ground. Turquoise glazed on the inside thinning at the rim.

Size: 14" high by 11" diameter

Condition: Good condition, no breaks or cracks

Age: Republic Period or earlier
