So called ‘KitCat’ wine glasses can vary enormously in the quality of the metal, the expertise of the gaffer and in their aesthetic achievement. This example is probably best of the type we have sold. What makes this glass so pleasing are its proportions; not only does the teared, slender and tapering stem act as the perfect springboard for the gently flared bowl it also provides a contrasting foil for the unusually confident (for balustroids) knop below. In turn the foot’s height allows for the creation of a curved profile that reflects the harmony found above.

Height 6½ inches;
Bowl diameter 2⅞ inches;
Foot diameter 2⅞ inches.

The glass, made from good, clear lead crystal glass is in excellent condition with no restoration or damage. Only light wear to the foot and bowl rims. There is a small, enclosed seed in the foot rim fold and a much smaller inclusion near the bottom of the bowl.
