This carved ZiTan (紫 檀) hard wood Bitong (brush holder) is an early 20th century product. ZiTan is a species of Pterocarpus native to India. Chinese love the quality and hardness of the wood; therefore, they use it to make expensive items. The brush holder is 6 1/8” high and 4 1/4” in diameter. This carved ox horn statue of an old man is a late 19th century product. It depicts a bearded old story teller sitting with one leg kneeling. He holds a pair of clap sticks or clappers in his right hand. His left hand rests on his belt. The statue is 4 7/8” high, 2 ¾” wide from bottom and 2 ¼” thick from bottom (without base). It is in great condition.

This Qing Dynasty Kang Xi Period (1662~1735) blue and white plate is 10” in diameter and 2” high. The interior of this plate depicts a living room scene; a couple are sitting on chairs chatting and a young maid is standing near by. Eight symbols which represent the Eight Immortals and multiple plants are around the center living room scene. The rim is decorated with peach and textile patterns...

This cast bronze incense burner is an early 20th century product. It is 6 ½” high (with carved hardwood base is 9 ¾” high) and 9 ¼” in diameter. Two bands of archaistic designs surround the upper half of the body. The lower half contains four floral designs which are repeated in relief on the cover of the vessel. It is in great condition.

It was carved by a late Meiji period (1868~1911) artist Tozan (東山). It depicts a smiling wood cutter taking a break and tying his straw sandal lace. A sparrow is resting on his straw hat. It is 6 1/5" high, 3 7/16" wide (from the bottom) and 3" thick (from the bottom). Aside from two hair line cracks; one on his back head and one on the bottom, it is in great condition.

This old carved amber snuff bottle is a late 19th century product. On one side, it depicts a Ling Zhi (靈芝) growing from behind a rock; on the other side, there is a magical beast. It is 2" high, 1 1/2" wide at the widest part and 1" thick. It is in great condition

This pair of carved ivory emperor and empress are late 19th or early 20th century export pieces. The emperor is 12 ¼” high, 2 ¼” wide and 1 ¾” thick. The empress is 12 1/8” high, 2 ½” wide and 2” thick. The emperor is holding a sword and the empress is holding a Ruyi. The robes are very well carved with dragon and phoenix designs. There is honorable “Great Ming” mark on the bottom of the empress. They are in excellent condition.

This 17th century (Ming Dynasty) blue and white Swatow ware jar is 13” high and 9 ¾” wide. There are four small round loops on the top. The blue glaze artwork depicts a fierce dragon flying through clouds. Judging from its shape, it might have been a wine container at that time. There is one small old repair on the spout. It is in excellent condition.

Han Dynasty (200 B.C.~ 220 A.D.) 5-spout iridescent glaze vase. Beige and olive green glazes cover half the body. It is an extremely rare piece and in perfect condition. H: 10 inches, W: 7 inches

This late 19th century Chinese overlay Peking glass vase is 10 ¾ inches high and 5 ½ inches on the widest part. It depicts a well known Chinese story “The goddess of Luo River.” A groom drives a dragon cart over the river while the goddess Luo sits in the cart. Two maids are following them. The workmanship is precise and elegant. It is in excellent condition.

This rare and unusual ivory carving of a sage is an early 20th century product. It is 10” high (with fitted hard wood base, it is 11” high), 3 ½” wide and 3” thick both measured from bottom. This image is the great Chinese herbalist and acupuncturist Li Shi-Zhen (李 時 珍, 1518~1593). Li Shi-Zhen is considered to be one of the greatest naturalists in China. He was interested in the proper classification and use of herbs...

This finely carved noble lady is a mid or late 19th century product. It is 12” high, 2 ¾” wide and 2 3/8” thick. There is an honorable “Yong Zheng” mark on the bottom. The lady is holding a bunch of lily blossoms in her left hand and a basket of peony blossoms in her right hand. The statue has great patina. Aside from some loss of coloring and a small old repair to a broken tassel on the front of her robe, it is in excellent condition.

This very well carved white jade (nephrite) Lohan (Arhat) is an early 20th century product. It depicts a Lohan sitting on a rock, his left hand holds a wood stick he is using to clean his ear; his right arm is resting on the rock. The impression on his face is just interesting and realistic. It is 6 ¼” high, 5 ¾” wide and 3 ½” thick. Aside from natural blemishes, it is in great condition.

This very well carved Chinese export ivory jewelry box is a mid or late 19th century product. Three dragons surrounded by lucky clouds are carved into the top of the box. Two dragons appear on the front of the box and one on the rear. There is a mirror and removable tray inside the jewelry box. The tray and bottom of the box are lined with dark blue velvet. The box has four legs. Aside from an old repair near the lock and one small age crack on the top, it is in good condition...

This rare cloisonné statue of a mythical animal is a late 19th century product. It is 10” high, 16” long and 8 ½” wide. According to Chinese legend, an animal that has a dragon head and tortoise body is called “BaXia” (or Bixi) and is the oldest of nine dragon sons. BaXia is valiant and powerful; he has the strength to carry the heaviest of burdens. He has the body and shell of the tortoise, so it represents longevity and will bring good fortune...

This large Chinese Famille Rose brush pot is a mid or late 19th century product. It is 7 ¾” in diameter and 7” high. It depicts buildings, a river and pond, trees and a garden scene. It has an honorable “Jia Qin” mark on the bottom. It is in excellent condition. More detailed photos are available.
