This carved bamboo brush holder (BiTong) is an early 20th century product. It depicts five sages and two young servants surrounded by pine trees and rocks. It is 6 ½” high and 5”~ 5 ½” in diameter. The carving is elegant and quite deep. Aside from some cracks due to the age and nature of the bamboo, it is in excellent condition.

Middle 19th century Chinese white jade Pi. The piece is 2 ¼ inches in diameter and 5/16 inches thick. A pinhead (Gu) design is on one side; the other side has a five scroll design. The carved wood stand has six round vase shaped corners. There is a tiny chip on the rim of the jade and a small piece is missing on the curve of the stand. It is in good condition.

The pair of early 20th century carved ivory emperor and empress snuff bottles are 2 ½ inches high, 7/8 inches wide and ½” thick. The emperor’s right hand holds a fan; his left hand carries a long staff. The empress’ right hand holds a flower; her left hand carries a round fan. The impressions on their faces are very well presented and their robes and hair pieces are nicely carved and colored. Aside from some worn pigment due to age, they are in really great shape.

This late 19th century Chinese Famille Rose Mille Fleurs (thousand flowers) plate is 1 ¾ inches tall and 9 ½ inches in diameter. Hundreds of flowers such as peony, chrysanthemum, lily, lotus, wisteria and hibiscus cover the entire plate. Two separate floral (peony) designs are on the back. It has an honorific Qian Long mark on the bottom. The workmanship is excellent. The gold edging on the rim has slightly rubbed off. Aside from this minor wear, it is in great condition.

This pair of carved ivory emperor and empress are early 20th century export pieces. The emperor is 14 ¼” high with base (without base, it is 12 5/8” high), 2 ½” wide and 2” thick. The empress is 13 ½” high with base (without base, it is 12” high), 2 ½” wide and 2” thick. The emperor is holding a sword and the empress is holding a Ruyi. The robes are very well carved with dragon and phoenix design. They are in excellent condition.

This late 19th or early 20th century Chinese jade carving is 6 inches tall, 3 ¼ inches wide and 2 ¼ inches in depth. One side depicts a seated goddess of mercy (Guan Yin) in a cave. Pine trees are growing above the cave. A pagoda covered with clouds appears on a far away mountain. On the other side, we find two old pine trees growing on a mountain. Two sages appear to be chatting; one is in the pagoda, one standing outside. The gated style building sits atop a mountain...
