This superb Japanese Meiji Period (1868~1912) oblong cloisonné plate is 8 1/8” long, 6 7/8“ wide and ½” thick. It depicts two flying cranes, peonies and chrysanthemums on a burgundy background. It is in excellent condition.

This very well carved late 19th century ivory netsuke is 1 ¼” high, 2 ¼” wide and 2“ thick. It depicts an old samurai’s metal helmet decorated with shi-shi (lion) head on top. The helmet is situated on an opened paper fan. There are a dozen mice with inlaid eyes on the helmet playing and chasing each other. It seems that symbols of war and peace, the helmet and the fan, are brought together and put in their place by nibbling mice. The workmanship is just superb...

This late 19th century Chinese carved ivory statue is 8 ½ inches tall and 3 ¼ inches at its widest part. It depicts a sage sitting under a pine tree holding a teacup and a book. A young servant holds a teapot standing at his side. The seal on the bottom ¡° Great Ming, Chan Hua¡± is merely an honorific seal. It is in good condition.

This late 19th or early 20th century carved ivory netsuke is 2 ¼” long, 1 5/8” wide and half an inch thick. It depicts a fish which has an inlaid eye wrapped in a bamboo leaf. The workmanship is realistic and superb. The signature “Hokutai” is on the bottom. It is in excellent condition.

The Chinese Tang Dynasty iron stele is 7 ½ inches tall and 5 ½ inches wide. A Buddhist design is on one side; calligraphy is on reverse. Most of the calligraphy has worn off, but some characters are still legible. It looks like it was made to honor one family¡¯s ancestor. There is a date to indicate it was made during second year of ¡°Zhi De¡±(757 A.D.) of the Tang Dynasty. The old coin style base (stand) is cast iron and was made to fit the stele later. This very well molded and colored late 19th century sitting Guan Yin is 9 ½” high, 4 ¾” wide and 3 ½” deep. It depicts Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy) holding a RuYi scepter and pearl sitting on a double lotus seat. Aside from a crack line on the back due to firing, it is in excellent condition.
