This late 19th century Chinese ivory statue of a bearded scholar is 5 ½ inches tall and 3 inches wide at the widest part. His eyes are half closed; he holds a scroll gently against his cheek. There are two characters read as ¡°Da Ming¡± on the bottom. The inscription means ¡°Great Ming Dynasty¡± which is quite common on ivory carvings or porcelain. There are a few hair line cracks due to the age of the piece. Over all, it is in great condition.

This superb ivory carving is 12 inches tall (including base) and 3 inches wide. The statue presents a legendary Chinese character who is a member of the eight immortals. According to legend, one day he told his follower that his spirit was going to travel far away. He asked the young follower to watch his body for seven days while he was away. If he did not come back after the seventh day, the young man must burn his body...

Chinese porcelain vase marked kangxi on the foot, but thought to be a late 19th century reproduction. There are domestic scenes painted in the over glaze enamels and repairs to the lip of the rim. At one time, the vase was used a lamp. Hence, the characters kangxi in the reign seal are restored and probably spurious. H: 24 inches, Diam: 8 inches

This late 19th century Chinese famille-rose water jar is 2 ¾ inches tall and 2 ¾ inches wide. It depicts five boys in a procession. The first two boys are holding banners and gongs. The third is holding a lantern. The forth child is dressed in red and is riding a Qilin (a Chinese legendary animal which has a dragon head and ox body). This boy carries a puppet. The last boy is holding a fancy umbrella. The workmanship is excellent and it is in great condition.

This early 20th century Chinese porcelain water jar is 2 ½ inches tall and 2 ¼ inches wide. It has hand painted butterflies and a floral design over a white background. The color is slightly worn and it is in good condition.

This late 19th century famille-rose water jar is 1 ¼ inches tall and 2 ¾ inches wide. It depicts a green and black bird standing on a tree branch with chrysanthemum blossoms on the side. The translation for the four Chinese characters is ¡°This style of drawing copies the Yuan Dynasty¡±. It is in great condition.

This famille-rose water jar is 2 ¼ inches tall and 2 ¾ inches wide. It is dated and signed to the Tong Zhi period (1862~1874). The four hand-painted pictures represent the four seasons. Hibiscus is the symbol of spring, willow for summer, peony for autumn and plum blossoms for winter. The color, especially the gold, is slightly worn. It is in great condition.

This mid 19th century famille-rose ink pan (box) is 2 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. On the top of the cover depicts two roosters fighting in the flower garden. The side is decorated with a floral design. It is in excellent condition.

This late 19th century famille-rose bowl (cup) is 1½ inches tall and 2½ inches in diameter. It depicts one red bird standing on a tree branch and chrysanthemum blossoms on the side. The translation for the four Chinese characters is ¡°This style of drawing copies the Yuan Dynasty¡±. It is in excellent condition.

This mid 19th century famille-rose seal box is 1¾ inches tall and 3½ inches in diameter. It has Qian Long mark on the bottom. The mark is fictitious which is quite common. It is decorated with a floral design. Though the color is slightly worn and tiny chip appears inside the cover, it is in great condition.

This leaf shape famille-rose brush washer is 1 ½ inches tall, 4 ¼ inches long and 3 ½ inches wide. It is dated and signed to the Tong Zhi period (1862~1874). The dish part is divided in two and hand painted with different kinds of flowers. The base is decorated with a green wave design and three orange bats. There is an old chip on the base, but over all, it is in good condition.

Mid 19th century Chinese blue and white ink pan (or box) is 2 inches tall, 3 ¾ inches long and 2 ¾ inches wide. The entire body is hand painted with pattern style of clouds, branches and flowers. The box is evenly divided into two parts. From the remains of pigment, it seems the box was used as a red ink (cinnabar) dish. It is in great condition.

Mid 19th century Chinese blue and white brush holder is 4 ¾ inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. It depicts a scholar with a staff standing in front of a hut which is surrounded by mountains and trees. It is in great condition.

This is a very well carved early 20th century ivory fan. The front is carved as grapes and leaves; the back and ribs are plain. The loop which holds the fan ribs together also is made of ivory. It is 7 ¾ inches long and 13 ½ inches wide (open). The silk ribbon is a replacement. It is in great condition.

This middle 19th century Chinese topaz brush washer is carved in the form of a large lotus leaf. Two small lotus blossoms and a seedpod lean on the large leaf. It is 4 inches wide and 1½ inches tall. There are a few chips due to the age of the piece.

This late 18th century Chinese rock crystal brush rest is carved in the form of a mountain. It is 3 inches high, 3½ inches wide and 1¼ inches thick. It is in excellent condition for its age.

This pair of Chinese carved white jade brush handles date from the late 19th century. One handle is carved as a dragon (male); the other presents the phoenix (female). According to tradition, before a marriage, both families will exchange gifts. If the groom is a scholar, the bride¡¯s family will give a complete set of scholar¡¯s tools as gift. A wealthy family will provide a very expensive gift. A pair of jade brush handles can serve that purpose...

This middle 19th century pale green with red over glaze brush washer has icy crackles covering the entire body. There are a few chips on the bottom from firing. It is 4 inches in diameter and 1 ¼ inches high. Very good condition.
