It was carved by a late 19th century or early 20th century artist Ryuzan (柳山). It depicts a smiling mother holding an umbrella and carrying a child on her back. It is 7 1/2" high and 2 3/4" wide (from the bottom) and 2 3/8" thick (from the bottom). It is in great condition.

This rare Edo period (江戸時代 1603~ 1868) silk covered accordian-fold book is hand painted on rice paper. The title and artist's seal appear on the cover. It is 9 5/8" long, 7 1/4" wide and 1" thick. The opening pages (both verso and recto) from either direction are blank, gold flaked rice paper; the end pages (bother verso and recto) are plain rice paper. The book contains 12 paintings, 6 paintings on each side...

It was carved by a late Meiji period (1868~1911) artist Tozan (東山). It depicts a smiling wood cutter taking a break and tying his straw sandal lace. A sparrow is resting on his straw hat. It is 6 1/5" high, 3 7/16" wide (from the bottom) and 3" thick (from the bottom). Aside from two hair line cracks; one on his back head and one on the bottom, it is in great condition.

The carved overlay glass snuff bottle is an early 20th century product. The red over clear glass snuff bottle is 2 ¾” high, 1 5/8” wide and 3/4” thick. Both sides have the same design which depicts a blossom tree. It has a light carnelian cap which is a later replacement. It is in great condition.

This very well carved overlay glass snuff bottle is a late 19th century product. The pink over black glass snuff bottle is 3 1/2" high, 1 5/8" wide and 1" thick. It depicts 8 Buddhist symbols of good fortune around the bottle. Those 8 Buddhist symbols are Lotus Flower, Dharma Wheel, Umbrella, Fish, Conch Shell, Victory Banner, Vase and Endless Knot. It has a light green hard stone cap which is a later replacement...

This old carved amber snuff bottle is a late 19th century product. On one side, it depicts a Ling Zhi (靈芝) growing from behind a rock; on the other side, there is a magical beast. It is 2" high, 1 1/2" wide at the widest part and 1" thick. It is in great condition

The later Chinese painting and calligraphy: 1800 - 1950 (three volumes), first edition. It was written by well known scholar Robert Hatfield Ellsworth (July 13, 1929 – August 3, 2014). He was a Manhattan--based American art dealer of Asian paintings and furniture from the Ming Dynasty. His art collection can be found in museums in the United States...

This superb carved ivory page turner is an early 19th century product. On one side there is a very well carved garden scene and figures; a textured pattern covers the other side. It is 12 ¼” long, 1 5/8” wide and a little less than quarter of an inch thick (measured from the handle). It has a great patina. Aside from one hair line crack on the back, it is in excellent condition.

This very well carved ivory horse is an early 20th century product. It depicts the reclining horse with turquoise and coral on its saddle and blanket. It is 7” long, 2 ½” wide and 3 3/8” high. Aside from two hair line cracks on the bottom due to its age, it is in great condition.

This long and slender carved tortoise shell snuff bottle is an early 20th century product. It depicts a PiXiu (貔 貅 or 辟 邪) sitting on the top of rocky mountain, surrounded by clouds. PiXiu is a Chinese mythical creature that is considered to be a very powerful protector regarding the practice of Feng Shui. Not only can it protect an individual or a family, it will also draw wealth from all directions. It is 3 7/8” long, 1 ½” wide and ¾” in depth...

This very nice carved ivory okimono of a young farm girl is a mid-19th century product. It is 5 ¾” high (with base is 6 ¾” high), 1 5/8” wide and 2” in depth. It depicts the farm girl carrying a wood and rope woven knapsack on her back. She holds a basket of fruit with both hands in front of her. Her smiling face is simply charming. The wood base might be a later replacement. It has good patina and is in very good condition. More detailed photos are available.

This large Japanese late Meiji (1867~1911) ivory carving is 14 ¼” high, 4” wide and 2 ¾” in depth. It depicts a smiling sage carrying a fan in his left hand and holding a long staff in his right hand. A rolled up scroll is tied to the top of the staff. Aside from a few hair line cracks due to age and size, it is in good condition. More detailed photos are available.

This Chinese pink glazed vase is a mid 19th century product. The entire body is covered with a soft rosy pink glaze, commonly called du Barry rouge. The Chinese name for the shape of this kind of vase is “Tian Qiu Vase” 天 球 瓶. It is 8” high and 5” wide measured from the widest part. It has an honorable “Yong Zhong” 雍 正 (1723~1735) mark on the bottom. It is in excellent condition. More detailed photos are available.

This 19th century ivory carving of a young woman wearing a straw hat and holding a fish is 11” high (13 1/2” high with hardwood base), 2 ¾” wide and 2” thick. This young woman is the central figure in a well-known Chinese opera called “The Fisherman’s Revenge” (Da Yu Sha Jia). The story concerns an old fisherman was threatened by a ruthless provincial governor. The governor insisted that the fisherman marry off his beautiful daughter to become the governor’s concubine...

This early 20th century ivory carving of a young woman is 12 1/8“ high (13 3/4” high with hardwood carved base), 2 1/8” wide and 1 ¾” thick. This large Chinese Famille Rose brush pot is a mid or late 19th century product. It is 7 ¾” in diameter and 7” high. It depicts buildings, a river and pond, trees and a garden scene. It has an honorable “Jia Qin” mark on the bottom. It is in excellent condition. More detailed photos are available.

This tripod Chinese incense burner is an early 19th century product. It is 8 ¾” high and 8” wide (measured from both handles). The three legs are the form of Chinese mystical beast’s 饕餮 (Tao Tie) face and claws. The two handles are the image of Pi Xiu 貔貅 and the top is a form of Foo Lion. The body is covered with floral designs; cloud patterns appear on the top rim of the burner. There is an honorable “Qian Long Nian Made” mark on the bottom...
