This nicely formed guinomi (sake cup) with an unusual Shino firing was made by noted restaurateur and ceramic artist Hamanaka Gesson (1943~). His work is blending of his native Hagi ware with other styles and glazes not seen in Hagi before. He is very popular and collected artist in Japan. This cup fits in the hand well. It is 2 ½” high and 2 ¾” wide. The artist’s signature is on the top of the original wood box. It is in excellent condition.
