This finely fired Nanban Karatsu guinomi (sake cup) was made by the thirteenth generation potter Nakazato Takashi (1937~), son of Living National Treasure Nakazato Muon. It is typified by the orange body color and light ash deposits which Takashi developed and bears a resemblance to some Bizen firings. He studied with the noted scholar-potter Koyama Fujio and his works are popular worldwide. It is 1 3/8” high and 2 7/8” in diameter. The artist’s signature is on the top of the original wood box; his signature is on the bottom of the sake cup. It is in excellent condition.
