This finely decorated porcelain yunomi (tea cup) in the Arita style depicts two men fishing in a boat. It was made by a potter with the family name of Yasukazi. Not much else is known about him. The piece came from the collection of a noted Japanese chajin (tea man) named Hatayama, who himself is known for the quality of the tea scoops that he makes for chanoyu. It is 3 ¼” high and 3” in diameter. The artist’s signature is on the top of the original wood box; his signature is on the bottom of the tea cup. It is in excellent condition.
