Middle Kingdom-Second Intermediate Period; (1938-1540 BCE)
Carved in the form of a stylized scarab beetle on the obverse with seven concentric circles connected by lines to create a larger geometric pattern.
In good to fine condition.

Scarabs of this type can be dated from the Early Middle Kingdom to the end of the Second Intermediate Period and have been found in numerous locations in Egypt and modern Palestine.
The significance of this style of inscription is not completely known, it may simply have served an aesthetic purpose or,like the examples inscribed with hieroglyphs, may have served an amuletic purpose yet unknown to us.
