These sturdy sterling silver cuff links are boldly molded with vertical lobes on each end of an oblong shape. They are marked sterling on the oblong bridge links, and are nicely finished with rolled edges. They are probably American and probably date around the late 1800s. Each side measures 7/8 inch long by 1/4 inch wide. Total weight: 6.1 grams

This handmade abstract pin features a biomorphic design composed of a slice of translucent banded carnelian with an unpolished edge, secured within a biomorphic frame of thick, hand-wrought sterling silver wire. It is unsigned and bears only a sterling mark. A rollover clasp secures the pin. The stone is in lovely condition, and is held in place by small silver bands applied across the front and back frames; there is no adhesive. The pin measures 2 inches by 2 1/2 inches.

This sterling silver bracelet features six handmade panels constructed of four horizontal bands of sterling. The top band is plain and gilded, and is applied to the second band with a textured surface. The third band is decorated with an applied abstract line of silver with three tiny silver beads, and is attached to a fourth undecorated band. The back of each panel is signed D.K. and 925; the panels are connected by scored hinges. The fold-over clasp is very secure and quite tight-fitting. The bracelet measures about 8 1/4 inches long by 3/4 inch wide. Weight: 27.2 grams.

This sterling silver pendant features a ‘space age’ design with a center amethyst cabochon. The surface is textured and oxidized for a whitish patina; there are a few tiny spots of oxidation. The amethyst is securely prong set. The back of the pendant and the bail exhibit a 925 in a cartouche with the words ‘Industria Argentina,’ which roughly translated means Made in Argentina. The pendant, with bail, measures 2 inches long by 1 1/4 inches wide. Gross weight: 8.5 grams

This substantial sterling silver bangle bracelet features a classic mid-century modernist design of an oblong shape with two flattened sides. The sides, however, are thicker and a little more rounded than the more common interpretation. It is marked inside with the Mexico Eagle 1 and the maker’s initials of ESM. The surface exhibits a nicely aged patina, with a hint of tarnish. Inner dimensions are 2 1/2 inches by 2 1/8 inches. Weight: 33.2 grams

These late arts and crafts sterling silver earrings are handwrought and formed as oak leaves with a ‘berry’ at the base. They were made by Albino Manca (1896-1976), an Italian sculptor and metalsmith who lived and worked in both Italy and New York. (There is a statue by him in New York’s Battery Park). The earrings have very secure clip backs, and the mark of A. Manca Sterling is found on the back of one earring. They each measure 1 inch long by 1 inch wide. Gross weight:7.8 grams total

Decorated with a guilloche design of white enamel enhanced with a geometrical pattern, these sterling silver gilt cufflinks are an example of the fine work of Aksel Holmsen. A curved bridge bar securely connects each side. The enamel shows no loss or scratches; there are some small areas of tarnish along the edges of the silver, which has retained its gilding. The cufflinks are marked on one side of the bridge bars with the term Norne and on the other side with 925 for silver content as well as Holmsen's mark for his Sandefjord, Norway, workshop. The larger sides of the cufflinks indicate the country and sterling on the reverse; they measure 7/8 inch long by a little over 1/2 inch wide. Weight: 11.3 grams total

This late 19th century sterling silver bar pin features suspended medallions of classical profiles and other similar elements, exemplifying the iconic design of George W. Shiebler of New York. This piece was part of Shiebler's Etruscan or Homeric line. It has a secure modified C-clasp on the back as well as the maker’s mark of a winged S, and a design number of 590. It is also marked sterling. The pin measures 3 inches wide by a little over 1 1/2 inches at its longest drop. Weight: 20.9 grams

This sturdy pin is probably the work of an American maker; its Scandinavian style is reminiscent of VikingCraft or early Danecraft. It is well cast, with an original working rollover clasp; it is marked sterling on the back, but no maker’s mark. It measures 2 1/4 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide. Gross weight: 16.8 grams

These earrings are made of roughly cast concave oval discs. Each drop hangs from a rosette-shaped top and swings freely. Due to the casting process, there are slight differences in darkness among the pieces: The tops exhibit darker oxidation than the drops, and there is a slight difference in shade between the earrings in general. The surface has a brushed finish. The screw backs are marked S835, with an unidentified maker’s mark of what looks like I.Bh. They are probably Norwegian. Each earring measures a little over 2 1/4 inches long and 3/4 inch wide. Weight: 10.9 grams

This silver pendant has a delicate, organic quality enhanced by dark-green enameled discs and small orbs that read as stylized buds or sprouts. The silver frame could be sterling, and is coated in some sort of translucent acrylic lacquer. The pendant is unmarked, but definitely hand made. It measures about 1 1/2 inches long by 1 inch wide. Weight: 8.3 grams

Featuring bridge-like connectors and open rectangular links, this 1960s sterling silver link bracelet features an abstract design characterized by both lightness and visual heft. It appears to have a lacquered finish to keep the silver bright, and is marked 925 on the back of one rectangular link. Its unusual clasp continues the bridge motif, and points to possibly a European origin. It measures about 7 3/4 inches long by 7/8 inch wide. Weight: 36.2 grams

This linked handmade silver bracelet features a series of hammered, oxidized panels with scalloped edges. The applied decoration consists of leaves and stylized vines in a pinwheel pattern, reminiscent of late arts and crafts design; the pinwheel motif is repeated on the four-lobed connecting links. All elements test for silver except the spring-ring clasp, which is in good working order and appears to be original. The bracelet dates from the 1950s and measures about 7 1/4 inches long by 3/4 inch wide. Gross weight: 18.5 grams

This complex bracelet has an almost glitzy appearance that belies its artistry, but gives it a formal look. It is composed of cast rectangular links of two sizes, alternating with organic, anemone-like elements; it looks to have been made from lost-wax casting. It features an iridescent finish that gives it a pinkish tone in some places; on one of the end links, the finishing process has left a darkened area. The bracelet is marked 835 on the underside of the clasp to indicate the standard for silver in some European countries. It measures 7 1/4 inches long by a little under 3/4 inch at the wider links. This .875 silver bracelet is composed of square panels decorated with embossed rosettes and connected by horizontal wires wound around bars. It has a secure tongue-and-groove clasp; the tongue bears the Latvian .875 silver hallmarks for 1922-1940, with maker’s mark of BR. (Latvia was an independent country during these years; it was part of the Soviet Union 1940-1991.) The bracelet measures 8 inches long by a little over 5/8 inches wide. Weight: 43.2 grams

This sterling silver bracelet is made of solid hand-worked, twisted circular links that fit nicely together. The secure clasp consists of a hinged figure-eight that snaps over a bead. The link with the clasp has a dividing bar probably for ease of closure. There is a partial sterling mark and what looks like a numeral or maker’s mark on the inside of one link. This sterling silver bracelet is decorated with Francisco Rebajes’ signature leaves. Each leaf serves as a link to the alternating square panels. The brushed surface shows some tarnish, but hardly any signs of wear. The tongue-and-groove clasp is very secure, with the Rebajes and silver marks impressed on the top. The bracelet measures 7 inches long by 1 inch wide at the leaves. Weight: 49 grams

This bold Mexican sterling silver bracelet is composed of domed hollow panels with complex cut-out designs based on pre-Columbian motifs. It was made by the premier Taxco workshop of Los Ballesteros. It has a very secure tongue-and-groove clasp with a graceful curved knob; the bracelet also appears to have the original safety chain. The cut work is intact; the hollowed areas within are oxidized to dramatically set off the designs. There are some very minor dents in the sides of a few panels. There is a maker’s mark on one side of the tongue, and a partial Hecho en Mexico mark on the other side. The bracelet has an interior circumference of about 6 1/2 inches when closed; it measures about 3/4 inch wide and about 3/8 inch at the highest dome.
