This is another fabulous vintage Peranakan Indonesian Chinese Batik Tulis circa 1950s by Tjoa Siang Gwan (read: Choa Syang Gwan) from a Javanese Batik making city Solo. The Tjoa Family did a number of amazing peacocks, and we have a few of them here (by Tjoa Siang Swie). The style is known as "3 Negri" or "Three States", which are the major Batik centres of Solo, Lasem and Pekalongan, where the blues were dipped in Pekalonga, the reds in Lasem, and the browns (sogan) in Solo. Today, all colours are done in Solo.
