This is a blue and white mourning KAIN PANJANG worn during wakes or mourning period. Made in the style of the the Tjoa Family's peacock, but unsigned, other than "BATIK TULIS" to indicate that this was fully hand drawn, stripped and dipped. The Tjoa family are said to have stopped signing their work in the 1980s. So this work would be post 1970s. Wonderful flow of energy in this peacock piece typical of Tjoa Siang Swie and Tjoa Siang Gwan. CONDITION: The colour has faded a little and there is a little repair done in an untypically rough way with black thread suggesting that who ever did this did not really know what she/he was doing (please see pic). It can easily be undone and made good by any good seamstress or tailors. -- THIS IS A RESCUE ITEM and is currently being listed as a NON PROFIT ITEM.
