In immaculate condition and colour, this is a piece of Solo peranakan Chinese batik tulis by Tjoa Tjoen Kiat, who along with Tjoa Tjoen Tiang worked mainly in the 1930s. From the signature convention of the the Tjoa family we estimate that this could originate from as early as the 1920s, as it is consistent with the signature style of branding from the earlier Tjoa generation who worked and started the style in the early 1900s. Tjoa Tjoen Kiat's style is a little more compact and restrained compared to Tjoa Tjoen Tiang. But they are both as equally fascinating especially when enjoyed up close! SIGNED "NJ. TJOA TJOEN KIAT SOLO" (Nj = Ny. short for "Nyonya" spelled in the Dutch spelling convention where a "J" is our "Y" and it is the equivalent of "Mrs."). CONDITION: EXCELLENT, the best cloth and colour I have ever seen!
