Rare Chinese Zhou Dynasty Pottery Animal

This rare pottery animal was made during the Warring States period (475 - 221 BC) or possibly earlier during the Zhou Dynasty (1050 - 221 BC). It is made from a dark grey earthenware and, although not actually solid, it is particularly heavily-potted. It has been individually sculpted and exactly what animal it represents is open to interpretation, although its crudeness has a certain charm to it.

Small Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Ox

This small and attractive pottery model of an ox was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is quite "heavily-potted" and made from a reddish pottery, the body having been made in a two-part mould with the legs and tail luted to the body. It has been "cold painted" in a base coat of white pigment on top of which have been applied yellow and red pigments. Length 14 cm (5.5 inches), height 13 cm (5 inches).

Fine Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl - Chrysanthemums

This fine-quality porcelain bowl was made during the 16th century, c.1550-1570. The pattern, in underglaze blue of good colour, features chrysanthemum blossoms (the chrysanthemum is the emblem of autumn and also represents friendship and an easy life. This very attractive small porcelain figure was made in the late 17th century during the Kangxi reign (1662 - 1722) of the Qing Dynasty. It is of a reclining lady holding a fan coated in various glazes, the predominant glaze being pale green. The flat base remains unglazed.

This blue & white porcelain bowl was made during the latter part of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The centre is decorated with the auspicious "Shou" character, meaning longevity.
