Chinese 18th / 19th Century Stoneware Jar (not Song Dynasty)

This wide-bodied stoneware storage jar dates to the 18th or 19th century although over the last few years many similar examples from a shipwreck have appeared on the market that have been mis-attributed to the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279). This porcelain bowl was made during the 19th century. It has a flared mouth and stands on quite a sturdy foot. The underglaze blue decoration is quite elaborate and has fired almost to black in places, the brightest blue being the mark within the recessed base.
