Fine Chinese Tang Dynasty Sancai Glazed Lady with Oxford TL Test (AD 618 - 906)

Glazed examples of Tang pottery figures are so much rarer and more desirable than plain or painted examples. The way the different coloured glazes blend int...

13 x 11 5/8 ins. (33 x 29.6 cms) This superb unsigned drawing is unmistakably the work of the great Shijo master, Chinnen.

The porcelain has a good ring when tapped and is particularly translucent. Qingbai glazes can vary in colour according to conditions in the kiln during firing; this bowl is very unusual as the glaze has fired to a very pale, almost yellow, the colour emph...

Korean Choson Dynasty 16th/17th Century Glazed Stoneware Bottle

This stoneware bottle was made during the 16th / 17th century, or possibly a little earlier. It has a cup-shaped mouth, a narrow neck, a bulbous body and a flat base. The surface has been coated in an olive-green glaze, the colour varying in places, especially where the glaze is at its thinnest. The surface is a little uneven and in places there is kiln grit embedded within the glaze, all of which arguably adds to its charm.
