This heavily-potted porcelain bowl was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279). It has a "rolled" rim and stands on a thickly-potted wide foot. The pale Qingbai type of glaze stops short of the foot revealing the white body.

Chinese Song Dynasty Qingbai Porcelain Bowl

This porcelain bowl was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279). It stands on a relatively wide and high foot and is coated in a finely-crackled pale greenish Qingbai glaze. The base remains unglazed and there are traces of what appears to be a Chinese character in fired-on black pigment. The glaze has flaked just a little from the rim where it is particularly thin. The glaze has also become a little stained from long burial.
