Small Chinese Ming Dynasty Enamelled Porcelain Dish

This small porcelain dish was made during the 16th century. To both upper and lower surfaces are the remains of green and red enamels. There is a kiln scar to the upper surface and minor chipping to the rim edge, clearly caused during manufacture. There is no repair or restoration and the dish has good ring when tapped. This attractive porcelain jar was made during the 16th century. The underglaze blue is of good colour, the decoration featuring a lotus scroll, the lotus representing summer, purity and perfection. Unusually to the base is a mark in underglaze blue although it is not clear what it is, possible a small animal.
