Chinese Yuan / Ming Dynasty Longquan Celadon Stem Cup (Published / Exhibited: Ex. Helen D. Ling Collection)

This "heavily-potted" stem cup was made during the 14th - 15th century at the Longquan kilns in Zhejiang province. It is coated in a thick pale green glaze save for the roughly-cut foot where the pale reddish-brown body is exposed. To the inner surface there is kiln grit embedded within the glaze. Height 8.75 cm (3.5 inches). It is in good condition with no restoration or repair.

Large Thai 14th - 15th Century Sukhothai Bowl with Fish Pattern

This large stoneware bowl was made during the 14th - 15th centuries at one of the Sukhothai kilns. It is quite "heavily-potted" and coated in a clear finely-crackled glaze that has a hint of green. The central design in underglaze iron-brown is a large fish within two circular bands. There are also decorative underglazed bands around the rim and outer wall. This attractive tea bowl was made at one of the kilns in Fujian province on the southeast coast of China during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279). It has a flared rim and is coated in a thick very dark brown temmoku glaze, save for around the foot, where the pale stoneware body is revealed.
