Rare Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty Painted Pottery Lady
This pottery model of a lady was made during the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386 - 534). It is quite "coarsely" made in two moulded parts that have been luted together at the sides. It has been "cold painted" in white pigment with details picked out in red and black pigments.
Height 26 cm (10.25 inches). There is some surface wear and loss of pigment, and a small hole by the right arm where the pottery is very thin, but no sign of restoration or repair; a very rare figure in fine condition.
