Fine Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Foreigner Groom Figure
This fine pottery model of a foreign groom was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). Note the detail of the clothing, also the hairstyle, beard and facial features. It is made from a buff-coloured pottery that has been coated in a base coat of white pigment with pink, red and black pigments on top. Unlike the majority of Tang Dynasty pottery figures, this figure is solid (as opposed to being hollow) and is quite "heavily-potted".
Height 29 cm (11.5 inches). A fine figure in exceptional condition.
