Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Figure
This attractive pottery figure was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from red pottery that has been cold painted with a base coat of a creamy-white pigment on top of which have been applied other coloured pigments. Note the detail of the clothing and the head gear.
Height 28 cm (11 inches). Some degree of repair must realistically be expected for such ancient and fragile objects and there are signs of repair to the vulnerable parts, the neck and base, but overall a nice figure in good presentable condition.
