Chinese Yuan Dynasty Jun Bowl
This stoneware Junyao bowl was made during the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368). Both inner and outer surfaces are coated in a thick Jun glaze that falls short of the "heavily-potted" foot revealing the pale yellowish-brown body. The glaze is finely crackled and its colour varies from purple to blue, depending on the thickness of the glaze - note also the greenish-blue splash to the glaze inside the bowl. There are "pin holes" in the glaze in places, particularly where it is at its thickest. Condition is very good, with no repair or restoration, although there are surface chips to the glaze in places.
A good size with a diameter of 19 cm (7.5 inches).
