Fine Chinese Song Dynasty Brown Glazed Jizhou Tea Bowl
This fine stoneware tea bowl was made during the Southern Song Dynasty (AD 1127 - 1279) at one of the kilns in Jiangxi province. It is coated in a dark brown glaze save for the rim and the slightly recessed flat base where the pale creamy-white body is revealed. To the base are traces of Chinese characters in fired-on black pigment although these are too worn to be able to read.
Diameter 12 cm (4.75 inches). This bowl is in fine condition with no repair or restoration.
