Tall Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Foreigner Figure
This fine pottery model of a foreign groom was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery that has been cold-painted in a base coat of white pigment on top of which are orange, black, red and pink pigments. The figure stands with right arm raised and head turned to its right; note especially the details of the face.
Height 39.5 cm (15.5 inches). Although some degree of repair should not be ruled out for such a figure, there are no obvious sign of such; a very nice Tang figure in fine condition.
