LARGE Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Camel with TL Test
This exceptionally large and impressive pottery model of a camel was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery that has been "cold painted" in various different coloured pigments. The camel stands upright and alert with its head raised a little.
We have had this camel tested by Oxford Authentications, the only testers of ancient pottery accepted by all major dealers, auction houses and museums worldwide, and the Thermoluminescence Analysis Report that will accompany this item is shown; this confirms the date of manufacture as "between 900 and 1,500 years ago".
Height 75 cm (29.5 inches), length 60 cm (23.5 inches).
This camel is available to view at our gallery.
