Fine Pair Chinese Transitional Blue & White Porcelain Bowls
This pair of fine quality porcelain bowls was made during the Transitional period, the middle to late 17th century. They are both elaborately decorated in underglaze blue of a good deep blue, the pattern featuring a phoenix standing amongst various plants & blossoms. To the base of each is a pictorial mark within thin blue rings. One bowl has a stained scratch to the underside.
The diameter of each is approximately 13 cm (5 inches). Each bowl has a couple of tiny chips to the glaze at the rim edge, and of course minor surface wear, but otherwise they are in fine condition with no repair or restoration and a good ring when tapped.
