This heavily-potted blue & white bottle was made during the Kangxi reign (1662 - 1722) of the Qing Dynasty. To be accurate, the shape is rectangular as opposed to square. It is nicely decorated, each panel containing many flower blossoms surrounded by a key-fret border. The flat base remains unglazed with characters (?) that appear to be in fired-on black pigment. It has a short neck with a flared mouth.
Height 21.5 cm (8.5 inches). Part of the neck has been broken and re-stuck with a chip filled in with an "honest" museum-type repair (as opposed to a "dishonest" invisible repair !).
