Chinese Jin Dynasty Henan Glazed Stoneware Bowl (AD 1115 - 1234)
This stoneware bowl was made during the Jin Dynasty (AD 1115 - 1234) at one of the workshops in Henan or Hebei province in the north of China. It has a distinctive form with a wide groove surrounding the bowl below the rim. The glaze, ranging from brown to black, covers the interior of the bowl but falls short of the base on the exterior revealing the pale creamy-coloured stoneware body.
It is quite a large bowl with a diameter of 17.25 cm (6.75 inches). Good overall condition: there is a very small chip to the rim edge and lower edge of the wide groove but there is no repair or restoration.
