Large Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl - 16th Century
This large blue & white porcelain bowl was made during the mid to late 16th century, c.1550 - 1570. It is decorated to the inner surface in underglaze blue of good colour with a lotus blossom pattern in its centre and a trellis border around the inner rim. The outer surface is simply decorated with two blue lines around the rim and foot. The foot is a little chipped, caused during manufacture. There is a small rim chip that has been filled, with an associated hairline crack, although this bowl does still have a good ring when tapped. Diameter 22.25 cm (8.75 inches).
