Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Dish - Peach & Bird
This small porcelain dish was made during the mid to late 16th century (c. 1560 - 1590). The underglaze blue decoration, of particularly good colour, features a bird perched upon a branch of a peach tree surrounded by a trellis border. The underside is more simply decorated with just two thin blue bands circling the base and rim edge and a small seal mark in the centre.
The peach represents marriage and is a symbol of immortality and springtime.
Diameter 11.75 cm (4.5 inches). Fine condition with no repair or restoration and a good ring when tapped.
