Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Jarlet
This small porcelain jar was made during the late 15th to early 16th century. It is "heavily-potted" and coated in a thick glossy glaze with a floral pattern decoration in underglaze blue. The glaze is a little crackled in places. Around the rim edge is insignificant "fritting" to the glaze, invariably seen on such ware of this period. The flat base remains mostly unglazed.
Diameter 6.25 cm. This jarlet is in fine condition with no repair or restoration.
This item is part of a recently acquired old English collection comprising mostly Ming Dynasty blue & white porcelain but also including a few earlier celadons and some South-East Asian ceramics.
