Fine Chinese Transitional Blue & White Porcelain Bowl
This fine quality porcelain bowl was made during the Transitional period, the middle to late 17th century. It is fairly "heavily-potted" and elaborately decorated in underglaze blue, the pattern featuring flower blossoms. To the base is a floral mark within two wide blue bands.. The rim is coated in iron brown to prevent fritting of the glaze during manufacture.
Diameter 14.75 cm (5.75 inches). This bowl is in fine condition with no repair or restoration and a good ring when tapped.
This item is part of a recently acquired old English collection comprising mostly Ming Dynasty blue & white porcelain but also including a few earlier celadons and some South-East Asian ceramics.
