Large Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl - 16th Century
This unusual blue & white porcelain bowl was made during the mid to late 16th century c.1560-1580. The inner surface is particularly elaborately decorated: in the centre is a standing bird, presumably a heron, together with various plants and blossoms. The surrounding wall is decorated with a pattern featuring lotus leaf panels and tassels. The outer wall is plain and undecorated.
Diameter 18.5 cm (7.25 inches). This bowl is in fine condition with no repair or restoration and a good ring when tapped.
This item is part of a recently acquired old English collection comprising mostly Ming Dynasty blue & white porcelain but also including a few earlier celadons and some South-East Asian ceramics.
