Fine Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl - Jiajing
This attractive blue & white porcelain bowl was made during the Jiajing reign (1522 - 1566) of the Ming Dynasty. The outer wall is decorated with a scrolling peony pattern whilst the inner pattern features lotus flowers in "white on blue". There is the usual "fritting" to the glaze at the rim edge seen on most porcelain of this period as well as some expected surface wear.
Diameter 14.5 cm (5.75 inches). This bowl is in fine condition with a good ring when tapped and no repair or restoration.
For reference we show an almost identical bowl from the fine Southeast Asian Ceramics Society book "Chinese Blue & White Ceramics" by S. T. Yeo & Jean Martin (this book is a "must have" for any serious collectors of Ming blue & white).
