Chinese Song Dynasty Qingbai Porcelain Bowl
This porcelain bowl was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279). It stands on a relatively wide and high foot and is coated in a finely-crackled pale greenish Qingbai glaze. The base remains unglazed and there are traces of what appears to be a Chinese character in fired-on black pigment. The glaze has flaked just a little from the rim where it is particularly thin. The glaze has also become a little stained from long burial.
Diameter 15 cm (6 inches). Condition is very good: there are a few small chips to the foot ring, clearly ancient, but there is no repair or restoration.
