Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Bowl
This porcelain bowl was made during the Wanli reign (1573 - 1620) of the Ming Dynasty. It is of the type known as "Swatow" or "Zhangzhou" ware. It is coated in a thick crackled glaze, the underglaze blue decoration comprising various floral and geometric patterns. The sand/grit adhering around the unglazed foot is typical of this type of ware, the bowl having been stood on sand in the kiln during firing. Diameter 14.5 cm (5.5 inches). It is a nice example of its type in fine condition with no restoration or repair.
