Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Jarlet
This small blue & white porcelain jar, or jarlet, dates to the 16th century. It is "heavily-potted" and is coated in a thick finely-crackled glaze. The underglaze blue decoration comprises floral and geometric patterns. The base remains unglazed and has fired to a pale brown.
Height 5.5 cm. It is in good condition with no repair or restoration.
This item is part of a recently acquired old English collection comprising mostly Ming Dynasty blue & white porcelain but also including a few earlier celadons and some South-East Asian ceramics.
