Fine Small Chinese Song Dynasty Glazed Stoneware Meiping
This small and attractive bottle of meiping form was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 – 1279). It is “heavily-potted” and coated in a thick black glaze that falls short of the base revealing the pale grey body. Where the glaze is thinner, toward the base, for example, its colour is brown. The reddish brown colour to the mouth edge are “calcified” burial soil deposits, no doubt easily removed.
Height 12 cm (4.75 inches). It is in fine condition with no restoration or repair.
