Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Bowl – Tek Sing Shipwreck c.1822

This bowl was recovered from the Tek Sing shipwreck, the cargo of which was sold at Nagel’s auctioneers in Germany in 2000. It is of finer quality than many other Tek Sing pieces with a nice “silky” feel to the surface. The underglaze blue decoration, although fired almost to black on this example, is limited to a wide band of geometric patterns around the outer rim.

The majority of recovered shipwreck ceramics will of course have some degree of wear / damage / chips etc.. This example, however, is in exceptional condition. Diameter 10.5 cm. No repair or restoration.
